West Virginia Wesleyan College Partners with Local Hospital

According to a new partnership between West Virginia Wesleyan College and Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, employees of Stonewall Jackson will now be able to pursue a degree in Wesleyan’s School of Nursing.

“From a partnership point of view, we believe in collaboration,” said Kevin Stalnaker, assistant CEO at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. “This is a great opportunity to collaborate with Wesleyan to offer our employees this program. We find local students want to work in their community.”

Stonewall Jackson Memorial hospital CEO Avah Stalnaker is 1977 graduate of the college with a nursing degree. She also was honored in 2013 with the alumni achievement award.

“Wesleyan has worked hard to create an academic health care program for adult learners,” said Boyd Creasman, interim president of the College. “Wesleyan is hoping to offer continuing education or a master’s degree in the health care program for people who are not in the clinical field, such as BSN degree seeking professionals.”
