Miller Named Director of Library Services at Wesleyan

Brett T. Miller ’06, archivist, music librarian, and Emeritus Club coordinator, has been named Director of Library Services at West Virginia Wesleyan College, effective September 1.

A native of Lancaster, PA, Miller obtained degrees in music performance and religious studies from Wesleyan and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011, specializing in archives, preservation, and records management.  Miller has been on staff at the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library since 2007 and has previously worked at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

He also serves as part-time archivist for the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, is the organist for First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg, and volunteers at the Upshur County Historical Society.

“I am deeply honored to have been selected to lead the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library in this period of change, both for our institution and for libraries around the world,” stated Miller.  “We will continue to be the academic cornerstone of Wesleyan, providing access to high quality information, professional services, and conducive spaces that support Wesleyan’s mission.  My goal is student success in and out of the classroom, and I am excited to work with my colleagues to create a dynamic environment that will allow all of our patrons to expand their intellectual and creative horizons.”

Miller will replace Paula Lowther McGrew ’78 who will retire in August. She served as library director for ten years.

“During a time of rapid technological change, Paula has been a highly effective library director and a champion of library resources as crucial to student learning,” said Dr. Boyd Creasman, vice president for academic affairs.  “Her work has positioned Brett for continued success.”
