Winners for Mid Atlantic Undergraduate Research Conference

West Virginia Wesleyan College held their 14th annual Mid-Atlantic Undergraduate Research Conference on March 24. The conference included an academic paper presentation on a specific field of study, which includes mathematics, natural sciences, sociology, literature, and original works of creative wring. The winners from the conference were awarded a cash prize.

Under the Math and Science category, Thomas Hines of Green Spring, WV received first place for his presentation called “A Study of Telfon Family Compounts with Raman Spectrometer;” Mark Leadingham of Sharpsburg, MD received second place for his presentation called “An Introduction to Chaotic Behavior;” and Jacob Coleman of Belington WV and Timothy Stephens of Australia both received third place for their presentations called “Embedding Groups Into a Mnoid of Binary Operations” and “Isotopes and Environmental Science.”

Under the Humanities category, Christopher Nolfi of Moon Township PA earned first place for his presentation called “Music and Madness;” Anne Belldina of Morgantown, WV received second place for her presentation called “Contempary Existentialism and Religious Symbols;” and Tre’Vante Taliaferro of Ridgeland, MS received third place for his presentation called “Renee Descartes’ Epistemological View to Existence.”

West Virginia Wesleyan College hosts the Mid-Atlantic Undergraduate Conference founded by Philosophy Professor Dr. Robert Hull for students to gain experience in academic research.
