Sleeth Gallery Presents: disruptor, Recent Works by Robert Howsare

The Sleeth Gallery at West Virginia Wesleyan College will feature the third-annual Artist in Residence exhibition: disruptor: Recent works by Artist in Residence Robert Howsare. The exhibition will run from March 8 - April 7. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 10 at 4:30 p.m. with an artist’s talk to immediately follow at 6 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Howsare’s new work is influenced by the disruptive camouflage used by naval warships during World War I and explores the phenomena of perception and patterning. His work moves beyond printed materials to examine failure in relation to optics, aesthetics and other operational systems.

In addition to academia, he has maintained an artistic practice in commercial print and design studios around the country. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally; select venues include the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Urban Institute of Contemporary Art and the International Print Center of New York. Howsare’s work has also been recognized byWIRED MagazineAbitare International Design Magazine, HOW, and other publications, most recently The Art of Tinkering, Meggs’ History of Graphic Design and on Adult Swim.
