Kansas City Swing Beat Comes to Wesleyan

West Virginia Wesleyan College will feature the Count Basie Orchestra on Thursday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Culpepper Auditorium of the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts.

Celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2015, the Count Basie Orchestra began under the leadership of William “Count” Basie (1904-1984) in Kansas City in 1935. Today, under the leadership of Director Scotty Barnhart, The Count Basie Orchestra is still “The Most Explosive Force in Jazz” and traveling the world continuing the excellent standards in swinging and shouting the blues with precision.

The concert is open to the public.  General admission tickets are available at for $7 with a handling fee.
