WVWC Day Effort Surpasses $400,000

West Virginia Wesleyan College’s WVWC Day appeal has secured more than $400,000 in gifts from 507 alumni and friends. This is the second consecutive year for the May 1 WVWC Day initiative.  Wesleyan’s 2017 effort resulted in an increase in donors and total cash received over last year.

The appeal was designed to focus on the school’s $2 million U.S. Department of Education Title III Challenge Grant.  Nearly $166,000 of the gifts received were earmarked for the Title III Fund and that total will be matched dollar-for-dollar and invested in Wesleyan’s endowment.

The WVWC Day initiative has pushed the Title III Challenge Grant donation total to $1,021,338.99.  The Challenge expires on September 30, 2019.

“The success of this day was a total Advancement team effort,” stated Bob Skinner ’75, vice president for advancement. “We are extremely grateful for the tremendous support we have received from our alumni and friends.  Their generous investment has strengthened Wesleyan’s future.”
