Enactus Selected to Compete in Up to Us Competition for Second Consecutive Year

The West Virginia Wesleyan College Thomas H. Albinson II School of Business is proud to announce that the student-led Enactus team has been accepted to compete in the Up to Us Nationwide Campus Competition for the second consecutive year. Wesleyan’s Enactus team is advised by Dr. Tracie Dodson, associate professor of business, and Kelly Hughes, assistant professor of business.

Up to Us is a nationwide competition that encourages students to educate their peers on the nation’s long-term debt, its effect on future economic opportunities, and what their generation can do to raise awareness for these fiscal challenges.  During fall 2014, elected student leader, Gregory Strader of Moon Township, PA, and his team will be thoroughly planning a campus campaign to raise awareness on national debt that will be executed over a four-week period at the beginning of 2015.

Up to US grants each team $1,500 for their campaign. Enactus will be competing for the top prize against teams from all over the United States. Using a diverse panel of prominent judges, the team assessed to have implemented the most successful campus campaign will receive $10,000 and be recognized by President Clinton at the 2015 Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU).

This fall, Strader will receive training at the Net Impact Conference in Minneapolis, MN and via online seminars and resources. Strader will then have to take what he has learned and lead his team to develop a campaign that targets Wesleyan’s campus culture.

Up to Us describes this opportunity as “a meaningful, hands-on learning experience that enables students to develop valuable leadership and organizing skills.” More information about Up to Us can be found at:
