School of Business Awarded Grant to Support Fall Semester Speaker Series

The Thomas H. Albinson II School of Business at West Virginia Wesleyan College has been awarded a grant from TechConnect WV to support an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Speaker Series during the fall semester.  This project is a collaboration with Wesleyan’s School of Education, the Upshur County Development Authority, and Inspiring WV.  The funding from TechConnect WV will sponsor three innovative speakers who will share their background inspiration, expertise, and advice with Wesleyan students and community members.

Rather than a panel presentation of all three speakers at one event, the series will be spread over a three-month period.  Matt Harbaugh, director of innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization at West Virginia University, will begin the series on September 23. In October, Dr. Chip Pickering, as Wesleyan alumnus and trustee, will focus on entrepreneurial opportunities related to sustainable construction and renewable energy. The series concludes in November with Guy Peduto who directs business applications for the West Virginia High Tech Foundation.

The sessions will begin at 7 p.m. and be held in the College’s Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts on College Avenue in Buckhannon.   This facility is fully accessible, and parking is available directly beside the Center.  The public is encouraged to attend, and the events are free of charge for attendees, thanks to the funding from TechConnect WV.

Wesleyan's School of Business offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, business administration, economics, management, marketing, and sport business, as well as an MBA with four concentrations.  For more information, please contact Dr. Susan Aloi, director of the School of Business and MBA Program, at
