West Virginia Wesleyan College junior Erin Hudnall of Ansted, WV has been named a 2015 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. Students selected for this award have been nominated by their university or college president.

“She is a quiet and effective leader who has impacted the campus and local community by her actions,” comment President Pamela Balch ’71.

Recipients have demonstrated their investment in finding solutions to the challenges that face our communities throughout the country. Hudnall, a psychology and sociology major, is a Wesleyan Service Scholar, member of WE LEAD, Vice President of the National Society of Leadership and Success, and member of W.I.SE (Women’s Initiative to Support Equality).

“Community service work means so much to me, and I feel it is a part of who I am,” commented Hudnall.  “It is a great honor to be recognized for my work.”

Hudnall has completed over 500 hours of community service in various initiatives thanks to her extensive campus and community involvement. Hudnall’s commitment to hard work has reflected her ability to be an effective leader in the Wesleyan community.

“The inspiration, passion, and strength I find in my WE LEAD peers and the Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development has most certainly prepared me to be a leader for social change for the future,” stated Hudnall.

Sponsored by the KPMG Foundation, the Newman Civic Fellow selection included 201 students from across the country. These students represent the next generation of public problem solvers and civil leaders.

“They serve as national examples of the role that higher education can and does play in building a better world,” stated Emily Wood, director of communication for Campus Compact.
