Sociology is the scientific study of human interaction, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociologists explore the structure and interactions of groups, social institutions, and societies, as well as the ways these forces impact human behavior. It is a vibrant and exciting discipline that prepares students for a variety of careers. The faculty are committed to helping you develop personally and professionally.

As a sociology student you can expect to gain a broad understanding of how societies operate, and more in-depth understanding of social institutions, such as family, economy, government, and education. Our program also allows students to explore social problems and the experiences of disenfranchised groups. 

Graduates of our program are well prepared for graduate school, law school, and direct entry to the public and private sector.

After Graduation

Students who graduate with a degree in sociology are prepared for many unique employment opportunities. Graduates are eligible for careers in business and industry, research and planning, social service, mental health, adoption, youth and services agencies, government, education, and advocacy. 

Our program also prepares graduates for further education in the in the social sciences.
