History Major

The History curriculum is designed to encourage students to read critically, think creatively, research thoroughly, and write effectively. The department encourages students to explore the American past, the European heritage, and Non-Western cultures.

The program provides excellent preparation for law or graduate school, government service, seminary, or museum and archive work. In conjunction with education courses, it can also lead to a certification to teach in secondary education. The department also offers a minor in history.

International Studies Major

The interdisciplinary international studies major provides a broad liberal arts foundation, a basic knowledge of foreign cultures, and an opportunity to concentrate in studies in one or more geographic regions. The major prepares students for graduate study, law school, government service, a position in a multinational corporation, international social services such as the Peace Corps or church-related mission work, or work with an international foundation or volunteer agency. Within the major are three areas of concentration for students to select:

  • Option A: Asia
  • Option B: Europe
  • Option C: General/Global

International Travel Opportunities
