"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together"

From the GSA Leadership Team

We are looking forward to welcomg the State's best and brightest artists for GSA 2016!  In our third year hosting GSA at West Virginia Wesleyan College, we look to further our theme of "Connecting the Arts".

In the words of Jessica Scott, Dean for the 2014 GSA Program:  "The focus for our three weeks is "Connecting the Arts" because art does not exist in a vacuum. Rather, it is a reflection of its creators, their world, their values, and their cultural ethos. Great artists from a range of cultural backgrounds and genres have influenced each other for centuries. Great writers have been moved by the works of great composers. Creative musicians have been inspired by the work of innovative choreographers. Visual artists of every type have been students of the world around them."

During GSA 2016, we will work intensely not only in our own disciplines, but across disciplines to better understand the iterplay among the humanities and arts as well as the importance for Arts Advocacy in our communities, State, and Nation.  In addition, our out-of-class activities will place further emphasis on the art going on all over West Virginia.  We will study the transformational nature of the arts on communities and learn from each other.  You will benefit from time with the region's very most talented faculty members as well as Resident Assistants who will each bring their collegiate experiences and mentorship to our programming.

We can't wait to welcome you to campus for this exciting time.
