Keith Saine


Keith Saine currently serves as the Director of Technical Theatre at West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he has concluded his third season. He has over two decades of technical theatre experience in both professional and academic arenas. Professional career highlights include roles as the Scenic Designer and Technical Director at The Collegiate School in Richmond, VA; Technical Director at TheatreVirginia in Richmond, VA; Carpenter and Props Artisan at Dallas Theater Center in Dallas, TX; Props Master at Jenny Wiley Theatre in Prestonsburg, KY; Resident Production Designer at Sycamore Rouge in Petersburg, VA; Lead Carpenter for Virginia Opera, and Location Assistant for the HBO Film, Iron Jawed Angels (Blankenship Company).


Additional professional scenic design credits also include Firehouse Theatre Project, SPARC, Richmond Triangle Players and Richmond Shakespeare in Richmond, VA. Academic design credits include Cape Henry Collegiate School in Virginia Beach, VA; Goochland High School in Goochland, VA; George Wythe High School in Richmond, VA; Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. Favorite design credits include Into the Woods, Art, The Crucible, Translations, Dark of the Moon, Little Shop of Horrors, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.


John Waltz

Assistant Dean


John returns to the Governor’s School for the Arts after serving as Dean in 2015 and Assistant Dean in 2014.  John serves as Vice President for Enrollment Management at West Virginia Wesleyan College. He holds degrees in English Writing and Theatre from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master's degree in Organizational Communication from West Virginia University. As an actor, he has appeared in numerous collegiate and community productions and continues to participate in Wesleyan shows when able, albeit in much older roles than he is comfortable.

As Director of Admission (and working with the tremendously talented WVWC Admissions team), Mr. Waltz has been a part of growing the College's overall enrollment over the last several years.  He also chairs the College's Marketing Committee and has overseen the creation of new branding, logos, and website. He has served on Buckhannon City Council and is an advocate for the arts and education in the community. He has made several presentations regionally and nationally about college readiness, enrollment strategy, and team leadership and looks forward to the tremendous opportunity to work with the Governor's School for the Arts once again.


Shriya Adhikary

Resident Director


Shriya Adhikary is a current MBA student at West Virginia Wesleyan College and works as the Social Media/Marketing Graduate Assistant and as a Resident Director for the Office of Campus Life. Prior to this, she worked for a tech ed start up as a Marketing Specialist in Washington D.C. She received her undergraduate degree in Communications and International Studies at Wheeling Jesuit University. She has worked in residence life for four years. In her free time, Shriya enjoys reading, dancing, traveling to new places, training for a half marathon, spending time with her family and friends, telling terrible jokes and pretending to be on Chopped. She is looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great time at GSA.


Holden Akers-Toler

Resident Assistant

I recently graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor's of Music Education. I am a percussionist and have an intense passion for jazz. In 2010 I attended GSA as an instrumentalist and have been a RA for the program the past two years. GSA is an incredible experience and I am very excited to share another year with this year's students!


Kristin Caviani

Resident Assistant

Kristin Caviani is a senior at Ball State University pursuing a degree in Vocal & General Music Education.  She grew up in Huntington, WV and attended GSA in 2010. Kristin has spent many years on the musical theatre stage, but in her time at Ball State, Kristin has worked in many areas of vocal music, most notably performing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Ball State Choirs and Muncie Symphony Orchestra, in the ensemble of La Boheme, private training with Donna Lowey, and working and performing with Eric Whitacre. She also has had the pleasure of volunteering at the Boys and Girls club of Muncie and leading small groups with the Revolution Campus Church. 


Shawna Clayton

Resident Assistant

A 2010 GSA alumni, Shawna Clayton attended for Visual Art at West Liberty University and this will be her 3rd year working as a Resident Assistant for the program at Wesleyan. Shawna is a working artist and Wesleyan Alumni, graduating with her BA in Art and Psychology in May 2016. She plans on returning to Wesleyan in the fall to pursue her MBA with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, and will be working for the Office of Campus Life as a Graduate Resident Director. Post graduation, she plans to pursue a career in working with nonprofit WV arts organizations.


Marissa Gain

Resident Assistant


Marissa is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and has a bachelor's degree in Painting and Drawing. Currently a freelance artist in the state, she loves theater, singing and experimenting with all forms of visual art.


Emily Jenkins

Resident Assistant


Emily Jenkins is a recent graduate from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in theatre. While attending Wesleyan, she worked in residence life for three years and was an active member of various organizations. She attended the Governor's School for the Arts in 2010, and this will be her third year as a Resident Assistant for GSA. Emily absolutely loves watching Netflix documentaries, dancing, playing Sudoku on her phone, hiking, and whitewater rafting, and she is very excited to meet everyone.


Abbie Kaiser

Resident Assistant

My name is Abbie Kaiser, I'm from Charleston WV. I'm a junior at WVWC and I'm studying art education and pre-art therapy. I hope to help people and make art one day! My favorite art to view is any kind of dance because I'm not a dancer at all and it always amazes me what people can do with their bodies. My personal favorite visual art to create are collage pieces. This is my first year working with GSA and I'm excited to be part of it!


Kaitlin Licause

Resident Assistant

Kat Licause is a recently-graduated English major hailing from WVU, and she is so happy to be spending her summer here at GSA! Kat is an avid reader, writer, and overall language fanatic; she works at a linguistics laboratory in Morgantown and hopes to be a technical or scientific writer in her future. In her free time, you can catch her playing video games, writing bad limericks, and trying her best to play the ukulele. 


Christopher McGraw

Resident Assistant

I'm 19 years old and I live in Myrtle Beach, SC. I attend West Virginia Wesleyan College, where I study music education. I've been playing music since I was 8, but fell in love with jazz and the bass in high school. I'm an all-state musician in both West Virginia and South Carolina and I love to skateboard, play foosball, and make music on my computer. I attended GSA in 2013 and can't wait to help out this year! 



Aryana Misaghi

Resident Assistant

Aryana Misaghi is a junior Flute Performance major with a minor in Biology at the University of Kentucky. She loves ice cream, NPR, and singing classical music loudly and very, very poorly. 


Ryan Phipps

Resident Assistant 


Originally from Yorba Linda, CA, Ryan is a junior Cello Performance major at Marshall University. Ryan currently performs as a section cellist in the Huntington Symphony Orchestra and serves as Principal Cellist in the Marshall University Symphony Orchestra. As a student, he has premiered several works of new music including an operetta and a work for a dance showcase as well as several solo and chamber music performances. Right now, he is captivated with the works of Ligeti, opera and pictures of pugs. In his free time, Ryan loves making Taco Bell/Cookout runs with his best friend and watching The Most Popular Girls in School.


Cadyn Turley

Resident Assistant

Cadyn Turley is senior at West Virginia University pursuing a degree in Dance and Public Relations. She is adopted from South Korea and was raised in Huntington, WV. Cadyn attended GSA in 2011 at Davis and Elkins College. Cadyn has grown up competing in dance competitions since 2009 with Elite Performance Academy under Marlo Preston. She has studied dance at Point Park University in PA and the Cincinnati Ballet in OH. She enjoys singing, performing, crafting, and acting silly and weird with friends and family in her free time. She is expected to graduate a semester early from West Virginia University’s Dance program in December 2016. She is really looking forward to meeting the next group of GSA goers and is excited to welcome them to the family! 


Caleb Waybright

Resident Assistant

Following his graduation from the Radford University department of dance, Caleb Waybright relocated to Norfolk, VA to begin a contract with Todd Rosenlieb Dance and Virginia Ballet Theatre.  He is excited to be returning to Governor's School for the Arts for the second year and looks forward to taking part in the art-making and merriment to come! Go art!

Aaron Levi Kuhn


Aaron Kuhn, a native of Wheeling, returns to West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts on his seventh contract as documentation staff. He recently completed the M.A.Ed. program in Community Education at West Liberty University, where he also works as Adjunct Faculty for the College of Arts & Communication. Additionally, Aaron works as a dance educator and maintains professional affiliations with Dance Masters of America (DMA) (Chapter 16) as well as the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). 


Jared Thompson


Jared is in his ninth year working for the West Virginia Governor's School for the Arts as the videographer on the documentation staff. Jared, a resident of Wheeling, WV, is a 2009 graduate of West Liberty University with a bachelors degree in Digital Media Design and a 2013 graduate from West Liberty with a Masters of Arts in Education degree with an emphasis in educational technology. Currently, he is pursuing an MFA in Film from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. For the past 11 years, he has also owned and operated a video production company; Thompson Video Productions. Jared is currently employed at West Liberty University as a Senior Producer and Engineer for the university educational access television station (WLUTV - 14) and adjunct professor of Communications and Digital Media Design

Sarah Smith


Born in Siberia, Russia, Sarah Smith will be junior at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She is a double major in Musical Theater and English: Creative Writing. She is the Historian of the Alpha Rho cast of Alpha Psi Omega, Public Relations chair for Alpha Omicron chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta, and a member of Sigma Tau Delta. She is a fashion blogger for Her Campus magazine and writes poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, as well as her own comic strip. In the previous season at WVWC, she starred as Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and as The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods. She is honored for the opportunity to be a part of GSA and to be among such worthy talent.
