Assessment

The Office of Greek Life will encourage Greek chapters to enhance the quality of life for its members and campus community providing a range of opportunities for meaningful individual involvement and growth.

The thirteen chapter standards are integrated into the Presidents Cup points system as a way to document and measure the successes of each chapter throughout each year. The College believes that the successful accomplishment of the thirteen initiatives in this document will assist chapters and the entire Greek community in realizing the important missions, values, and goals upon which each national fraternity was founded. The high ideals of scholarship, friendship, leadership and service, can be realized by the implementation of the standards. The following outline provides clarification between the standards and ideals of Greek organizations.

The College seeks thoughtful and determined support for these standards by all members of our Greek community. The support of dedicated alumni, students, and national representatives has been appreciated. We remain eager to collaborate with all who share our vision for a successful Greek system on campus. We are willing to alter standards if a better outcome might be achieved. We urge that each member and chapter recognize the full implications of our concerns, and that together we will ensure a perpetual continuation of Greek experience at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Accreditation Standards

  1. Academic Performance – Each chapter must maintain above 2.75 through college standards.  Greek Alumni Council mandates that each fraternity to be above the all-male campus average and each sorority
to be above the all-female average.

  2. Chapter Development - Each Chapter must achieve 70% efficiency rating on the Presidents Point Cup point system worksheet.  A score 70-74% may cause a chapter to be place on contract for the next academic year with a designation of provisional recognition.

  3. Leadership Development – Each chapter must fully comply with Article V of the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic constitutions concerning risk management and college policy. Educational programming will be provided to enhance the well-being of the Greek community.

  4. Social Responsibility - The Director of Greek Life may recommend to the accreditation board or Dean of Students to meet if a chapter has more than six weeks probation in an academic year. The board or Dean of Students will decide if corrective action is needed for the chapter.
